World Online Networking Day 2020 is a celebration of Online Business Networking across the world, developing relationships and creating business opportunities.

Networking has been defined as a set of behaviours that is aimed at building working/professional relationships of benefit to those involved.

Networking in the new normal

Covid-19 changed the way we work, the way we live, and the way we think. As a business, we were, like so many others, urged into rethinking our entire method of communication, operation and how we networked. In-person networking now a distant memory, we at ProMedical embraced online networking rapidly as a growing company.

Instantly, we left the office and took on the novel practice of remote working. How we celebrated events, how we met clients, how we did our daily working day, changed almost immediately. But, as an innovative progressive company, we were prepared and ready to engage new ways of working, new technologies and Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet became second nature to us.

We set up a remote office structure and continued to grow and support the NHS during the Pandemic. As the second wave looms, we feel well positioned to continue to back up our national healthcare system and our valued clients with our staffing solutions that work. We place quality candidates into their best-suited roles that support private and public healthcare clients. Delivering a trusted service by an experienced team, in order to support staffing solutions nationally. Part of that solution driven approach is based on good professional relationships developed with the help of online networking for the ‘new normal’.

Why is networking important in healthcare recruitment?

Networking enables businesses to develop relationships with other businesses and people.

Previous research has shown that users of social network sites designed for professional purposes, such as LinkedIn, report higher professional informational benefits than nonusers. 1

Building professional relationships allows you to get in on trends, industry happenings and movement within the healthcare recruitment landscape. We certainly have made life-long friends and valued customers from networking. Going from conventional to online is easy for us as we have always invested in a culture that embraces change and innovations.

Some of the most popular online professional network sites used in the UK include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Reddit, and Pinterest.

Tips and hints – Online Networking in 2020!

Going online in a professional capacity to meet like-minded professionals involves bringing a piece of yourself to the conversation. Certain etiquette of respect, privacy and dignity will always be expected in any platform of communications, but are there tips for online networking in 2020? Yes, there are and here are a few we feel are reflective of good relationship construction and networking.

  • Be genuine and authentic
  • Always be yourself – the very best version of yourself
  • Timing is everything-don’t be pushy, don’t insist on an answer-let it grow organically
  • Be professional, friendly and to the point
  • Add value-what is that person/business going to gain from a relationship from you?

World Online Networking Day is a real celebration for all who interact across the globe with a common purpose to build relationships. A day to be thankful for technology.
