Money for NHS Repairs to Come From Selling Land
Yes, Chancellor Philip Hammond offered the NHS a good increase on the amount that had previously been planned for the budget.
However, most keen observers are still reeling at the realisation that this still falls some way short of the £4 billion that most, including NHS England boss Simon Stevens, said would be needed to keep the NHS offering the same service level. Instead the increase amounts to an increase of £1.6 billion for 2018-2019: less than half of what is said to be needed.
Elsewhere other amounts have been made available for the NHS to build and improve facilities. This has long been a concern as budget cuts have led to health and safety issues that could in turn lead to costly claims for the NHS.
How do the numbers break down?
