For fantastic opportunities, why not visit our jobs page and have your pick of roles tailored to suit you and your lifestyle. Our dedicated recruitment consultants have years of experience and will secure the very best position for you.
  2. Know what you want from your career – Do you want to work at a trust or practice with the latest technology, an innovative centre of excellence? Or would you thrive in a rural small district practice?
  3. Work/life balance- have you a family? How much time for outside social activities do you need? It’s essential to try to have a good balance between home and work life as the role of a consultant is a demanding and responsible one. Having time with family and a quality amount of ‘downtime’ is vital to maintain good mental health.
  4. Visit the Trust and meet with the Chief Executive or Directors, to get a feel for the location, environment, and ethos of the Trust. Does it match your vision and mission; is it going in the same direction you want to go in?
  5. Post clinical training, there are ample opportunities for research and professional development, discuss these opportunities for research, teaching and sub-specialism with the Trust. Working at a facility that values research and further development will no doubt enhance your career, and allows for possibilities to publish research, get involved in the latest trends within your specialty, or provide for teaching opportunities.
  6. What kind of employee support structure is available at the practice?
  7. What clinical facilities, attitude to innovative new developments, equipment will be available?
  8. Know the workload before accepting the post. Analyse the amount of time you can realistically dedicate to the job and any other commitments you may have.
  9. Ask if any mentoring will be available? In the early days of consulting, it might prove beneficial to have guidance from an experienced specialist.
  10. Enquire about the policies, protocols, procedures, and guidance of the Trust.
