Our Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP)

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

We are committed to achieving net Zero emissions by 2028.

At ProMedical Personnel, we recognise the impact of climate change on our planet and acknowledge our responsibility to shape a sustainable future for generations to come. Therefore, as part of our commitment to environmental stewardship, we make accountable commitments to reducing our carbon emissions to net zero within the next five years. This will be overseen by our Director of People and Environmental Officer, Emma Brian. All commitments will be underpinned by regular monitoring of our progress, utilising key performance indicators to track our carbon reduction efforts. Through this, we will communicate our achievements, challenges, and lessons learned with all stakeholders, securing transparency.

The above will be achieved through us upholding the four following commitments:

  • Clear Goals: We have established specific,  measurable,  and time-bound initiatives to significantly reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Energy Efficiency: We will implement energy-efficient practices and technologies across our operations to minimise energy consumption.
  • Sustainable Transport: We are actively working to promote sustainable commuting options and exploring the transition to low-emission or electric vehicles within our fleet.
  • Supply Chain: By collaborating with our clients and candidates, we aim to implement sustainable sourcing practices and reduce the environmental impact of our supply chain.

Through focusing our efforts on the above four commitments, we will achieve our net zero emissions goal by 2028.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline year: 2023

Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.

We have chosen 2023 as our baseline year due to previous emissions data not being published. We have used the SSE Carbon Calculator, available at https://www.sseenergysolutions.co.uk/small-business-sustainability/carbon- footprint-calculator, to calculate baseline emissions in line with BEIS Environmental Reporting Guidelines.

Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:

Carbon Reduction Achieved vs Target at ProMedical

The above graph is based on the understanding that carbon reduction cuts will be easier to achieve within the first year, resulting in a 50% cut in year one. This will be followed by a steadier rate of carbon-reducing cuts in years 2-5.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2023 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 197.25 tCO2e, a 50% reduction against the 2023 baseline in year one, followed by a 49.75 tCO2e reduction in years 2-5. These measures will be in effect when performing the contract.

Completed initiatives include:

Moving to an Energy Efficient Location

We moved from a solely occupied office to a managed office. We worked in partnership with the Office Managers to undertake a unified approach in reducing office emissions, taking ownership in our commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2028. This office supports:

  • LED and PIR lighting controls
  • Energy supplied by Tomato Energy, our April 2022 – March 2023 report revealed that 2% of our office energy source is renewable energy.
  • Waste collection services are provided by 360 Recycling London Limited. All staff abide by our recycling policy, ensuring where possible that all materials are placed in recycling bins located in lunch areas.
  • Electric vehicle charging stations, supporting our encouragement for staff to use electric/hybrid vehicles, further reducing travel emissions.

Paperless Office

We champion 100% digital reporting, providing training/mentorship to contract staff where required. We recycle all printer cartridges and place restrictions on the number of staff allowed to print, limiting printer access.

Travel Reduction

We use Microsoft Teams to conduct virtual meetings with candidates. This has cut down emissions produced by candidates travelling to the office and by internal staff travelling to candidate accommodation. Through this, we have reduced our domestic miles and their emissions by 25%.

Carbon Champion Day

We awarded two paid days off for two employees to project manage their transition from electric to solar panel energy at their homes. Through this, these individuals became our Solar Panel Champions, supporting others in our organisation to make this green transition.

Volunteering Day

We offer all staff one paid day per annum to join a project or support a charity. This includes Community-based Sustainability Initiatives and Ocean Conservation Projects.

In the future, we will implement further measures, such as:

  • Working with the Plumtree Foundation to offset our carbon by planting
  • Offering the Halfords cycle to work
  • Evolving our Carbon Champion Day to incorporate a wider criterion, shaping these initiatives around staff recommendations.
  • Providing Carbon Footprint Reduction Training for all
  • Offering all staff one paid day off per year to engage in carbon reduction initiatives, g., installing solar panels in their homes.
  • Encouraging internal staff to move to electric/hybrid vehicles, providing information to help them make informed

Declaration and Sign-off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard1 and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting2.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported.
