Urology Awareness Month is an annual awareness event occurring every September. Organised by The Urology Foundation, the main aim is to raise awareness and funds for research of urological conditions.

They aim to get the UK talking about preventing, treating, and managing conditions affecting the urology system.

The Urology system comprises of the kidneys, bladder and urinary tract, male reproductive system, and prostate.

What conditions affect the urology system?

  • Cancer of the bladder, prostate, kidneys, and male reproductive system
  • Incontinence
  • Infertility
  • Infections
  • Erectile dysfunction

Half of us will suffer from a urology condition at some time in our lives and unfortunately, there remains a stigma around specific diseases, particularly men’s health. The awareness month aims to banish this stigma by talking openly about all thing’s urology!

What doctors deal with the urology system?

Urologists specialise in this area of medicine, and we have multiple opportunities available. Talk to us today if you are interested in a career with flexibility, an excellent pay package, research opportunities, and an outstanding work-life balance.

Ways to get involved in Urology Awareness Month include:

Spread the word– talk about urology health. Download more information on urology health here or download the latest leaflets on urology cancers and urology disease.

Sharing is caring – If you have been affected by a urology-related illness, and want to share your story, then contact  info@theurologyfoundation.org

Fundraise – The work of The Urology Foundation is not just about raising awareness, but also about urology research and education of urologists and nurses.

The Urology Foundation is asking you to STEP UP FOR TUF during Urology Awareness Month by virtually climbing a building or a mountain. Climb the stairs, climb the escalator on the tube, climb the steps at your place of work and keep a count.  Set up an ‘everyday hero’ fundraising page on our ‘Step Up For TUF Challenge’ page (click here)  and ask your friends, family and work colleagues, to sponsor you during the month of September.
