Introduction

ProMedical Personnel Ltd ("ProMedical", "we", "our", "us") recognises our responsibility to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and minimise the environmental impact of our operations.

As a specialist healthcare workforce provider, we are committed to continually improving our environmental performance through sustainable business practices, responsible procurement and long-term carbon reduction.

This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our carbon emissions baseline, current emissions, carbon reduction initiatives and future commitments. It should be read alongside our Environmental & Sustainability Policy.

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions across our operations.
  • Embedding sustainable working practices throughout the organisation.
  • Supporting the NHS and independent healthcare sectors in achieving their sustainability objectives.
  • Working with environmentally responsible suppliers.
  • Promoting environmental awareness amongst employees.
  • Monitoring and reviewing our environmental performance annually.

Our objective is to achieve Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions across our direct operations by 2045 whilst continually reducing our operational carbon footprint.

Our baseline year is 2023.

This represents the first year ProMedical formally measured its organisational greenhouse gas emissions and provides the benchmark against which future reductions are measured.

Emissions by Scope

The majority of ProMedical's emissions arise from office energy consumption, employee commuting, business travel and purchased goods and services.

Scope Description
Scope 1 Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources.
Scope 2 Purchased electricity used within office premises.
Scope 3 Business travel, employee commuting, waste disposal, purchased goods and services, and supply chain activities.
Scope 3 emissions represent the largest proportion of our carbon footprint and remain our primary focus for future reductions.

Carbon Reduction Measures

Since establishing our baseline, ProMedical has introduced a number of initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Energy Efficiency

We have implemented the following measures:

  • Relocated to a managed office with shared energy efficiency initiatives.
  • LED lighting throughout office areas.
  • PIR (motion sensor) lighting controls.
  • Energy-saving settings across IT equipment.
  • Promotion of responsible energy consumption.
Digital Working

We continue to reduce paper consumption through:

  • Digital-first working.
  • Electronic onboarding and compliance processes.
  • Restricted printing.
  • Electronic document storage.
  • Recycling printer cartridges.
Sustainable Travel

We reduce travel emissions by:

  • Conducting virtual meetings using Microsoft Teams.
  • Carrying out remote interviews where appropriate.
  • Supporting hybrid working.
  • Encouraging public transport.
  • Promoting electric and hybrid vehicles.
Waste Reduction

We minimise waste by:

  • Providing recycling facilities throughout the office.
  • Purchasing recyclable materials where practical.
  • Responsibly recycling electronic waste.
  • Reducing unnecessary printing.
  • Encouraging reuse wherever possible.
Sustainable Procurement

Environmental considerations form part of our purchasing decisions.

Where appropriate we:

  • Work with environmentally responsible suppliers.
  • Purchase recycled or recyclable products.
  • Consider suppliers' environmental credentials.
  • Encourage sustainable practices throughout our supply chain.
Employee Engagement

Employees play an important role in reducing our environmental impact.

We encourage participation through:

  • Environmental awareness initiatives.
  • Carbon Champion activities.
  • Annual environmental volunteering opportunities.
  • Sharing sustainable working practices.

Monitoring and Reporting

We measure and review our carbon emissions annually.

Progress is monitored against our baseline emissions and reviewed by the Board of Directors as part of our environmental governance arrangements.

Updates are reflected within this Carbon Reduction Plan, our Environmental & Sustainability Policy and supporting tender documentation where appropriate.

Responsible for approving this Carbon Reduction Plan and overseeing the organisation's environmental strategy.

Managers

Responsible for supporting carbon reduction initiatives within their teams.

All Employees

Expected to support this plan by adopting environmentally responsible working practices and contributing towards our sustainability objectives.
