Environmental & Sustainability Policy

Introduction

ProMedical Personnel Ltd (“ProMedical”, “we”, “our”, “us”) recognises our responsibility to protect the environment and contribute to a sustainable future.

We are committed to:

  • Reducing our environmental impact.
  • Promoting sustainable working practices.
  • Supporting the NHS and independent healthcare sectors in achieving environmental targets, including Net Zero emissions by 2045 for supply chains in line with NHS goals.

This policy outlines our commitments, actions, and future plans for environmental responsibility.

Our environmental commitments

We will:

  1. Prevent waste – reduce, reuse, and recycle wherever possible.
  2. Reduce emissions – cut carbon output across our operations and supply chain.
  3. Promote sustainable travel – encourage use of electric/hybrid vehicles, public transport, and remote working.
  4. Work with responsible suppliers – partner with those who share our environmental values.
  5. Educate and engage our people – ensure staff understand and support our sustainability goals.

Waste reduction and recycling

We have implemented the following measures:

  • Recycling stations in all office lunch areas, with clear signage.
  • Paper minimisation – we operate a “digital first” policy, restrict printing access, and default to black-and-white printing if printing is essential.
  • Recycled/recyclable materials – preference given in all purchasing decisions.
  • Responsible disposal – all printer cartridges and electronic waste are recycled through certified providers.

Energy efficiency

  • Offices use LED lighting and PIR (motion) sensors to reduce electricity use.
  • We have relocated to a managed office with shared energy efficiency commitments and renewable energy sourcing where possible.
  • Our electricity provider sources a proportion of renewable energy; we aim to increase this annually.
  • IT systems are configured for energy-saving modes when not in use.

Sustainable transport

  • We promote virtual meetings to reduce business travel emissions.
  • We plan to launch a Cycle to Work Scheme for employees.
  • Staff are encouraged to transition to low-emission vehicles with support and information provided.

Carbon reduction

We have set a target to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2045 for our direct operations.
Our baseline year (2023) total emissions: 394.5 tCO₂e.

Actions taken to date include:

  • Moving to a managed office with shared energy efficiency measures.
  • Implementing remote work and virtual interviews to reduce travel emissions.
  • Supporting staff to install solar panels at home via our “Carbon Champion Days” initiative.

Progress: 50% reduction in emissions in year one (2023–2024).

For full details, please see our Carbon Reduction Plan.

Sustainable procurement

  • We work with suppliers who operate environmentally responsible practices.
  • Environmental impact is considered in all purchasing and service decisions.
  • Preference is given to suppliers with ISO 14001 or equivalent environmental management certification.

Community engagement

  • Staff receive one paid day per year to participate in environmental volunteering (e.g., community sustainability projects, ocean conservation).
  • We collaborate with organisations such as the Plumtree Foundation for carbon offsetting through tree planting.

Monitoring and reporting

  • We measure and review our environmental performance annually.
  • We track progress against carbon reduction targets using recognised calculators and reporting methods.
  • Updates are communicated in our annual sustainability report and tender submissions.

Responsibilities

  • Directors: Oversees environmental strategy and policy compliance.
  • All employees: Expected to follow this policy and contribute to our sustainability goals.
